2023 Emmy Award-nomineringerne er her, og mange prisovervågere undrer sig over én ting: hvem vil EGOT i år? Et akronym for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar og Tony, EGOT er Hollywoods store slam af priser, og kun en håndfuld berømtheder (som Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, Mel Brooks og Jennifer Hudson) er kommet på listen. I løbet af prissæsonen 2022-2023 sluttede et andet ikon sig til den store gruppe: Viola Davis, der vandt ved Grammy-prisen i 2023 for at fortælle lydbogen fra hendes erindringer, 'Finding Me'.
Udtrykket EGOT blev skabt af Philip Michael Thomas, en skuespiller, der blev berømt for sin rolle i 'Miami Vice' og opfandt udtrykket i 1984, men som faktisk aldrig endte med at vinde nogen af priserne. Den første person, der virkelig opnåede EGOT-status, var Richard Rodgers, som vandt titlen i 1962 efter at have vundet en Emmy for original musik komponeret til 'Winston Churchill: The Valiant Years'. Den eneste person, der hidtil har EGOT to gange, er sangskriveren Robert Lopez, som skrev historie i 2018, da han vandt ved Oscar-uddelingen for sangen 'Remember Me' fra 'Coco', hvilket betyder, at han vandt hver af priserne mindst to gange.
